Make garment condition and lifecycle responsibilities visible and manageable.
Cleanroom garments wear over time. Seams, closures, cuffs, fabric condition, repairs and repeated processing can affect whether an item remains suitable for its intended use. A managed programme should define when garments are inspected, what makes an item acceptable, how damaged items are removed from circulation and how replacement decisions are recorded. Premark’s existing service description refers to garment inspection and garment-level tracking; the exact checks and records available should be confirmed in the service proposal.
In scope
Condition checks to define
- Visible damage, tears, holes or worn fabric.
- Seam, closure, cuff and fastening integrity.
- Staining, residue or damage that triggers withdrawal under the agreed procedure.
- Suitability for repair where repairs are permitted for the garment type.
- Defined retirement criteria or age/use limits, where these form part of the programme.

Tracking and records
Garment management may use labels, barcodes or other identifiers depending on the programme. Before contracting, establish which data Premark can capture and provide: for example, item identity, issue/return status, number of processing cycles, repair history, retirement status or delivery records. Do not promise RFID or a complete garment history unless the technology is in place and included.
How it works
Agree the rules before service begins
Define the inspection points and acceptance criteria.
Record who can remove a garment from circulation and how a replacement is requested.
Specify which reports are needed by the customer and how often they are supplied.
Agree repair limits, retirement triggers, replacement responsibility and applicable charges.

Why traceability should be practical
The aim is not to create paperwork for its own sake. Records should help the customer understand what garment stock is available, which items are returned or withdrawn, and whether the service is operating as agreed. Avoid describing a report as “audit-ready” unless the actual report fields, process owner and data integrity are understood.
